There are many umbrellas on the market with a metallic silver UV protective inner canopy surface – indeed we sell them ourselves. The silver lining on a UV proof umbrella is one of the most effective ways to reduce the amount of Ultra Violet getting through the canopy.
One slight drawback of this approach however is that indirect UV can be reflected upwards from the ground. And then again from the reflective interior of the umbrella onto your head and face. Of course, this is all dependent on the surface of the ground. The parabolic shape of the umbrella can actually have the effect of concentrating the UV rays.
To combat this, we have reversed the conventional design of this UV proof umbrella. Now the silver is on the outside and the black on the inside. The silver finish still filters out the direct UV and reflects it away from the canopy. However, the black interior of this UV proof umbrella will absorb rather than reflect the sun’s harmful rays.

The Cambridge Silver UV proof umbrella is a top of the range walking umbrella with a sturdy aluminium handle and shaft. Tension Cable Technology (TCT) frame with 12 strong and flexible fibreglass spokes. These quality walking umbrellas have a 12-panel canopy some 114 cm/45?? (max.) in width, as well as measuring 93 cm (36.5??) from handle to tip. Their distinctive aluminium tip, along with the ‘auto-open’ mechanism, sets these strong UV protective umbrellas far above other walking style umbrellas. They also come with a smart silver protective sleeve.
Equally suitable for ladies and gents, the Cambridge Walker UV proof umbrella is very strong and represents excellent value for money. Whereas traditional umbrellas usually have just eight spokes, this twelve spoke frame means the auto-open mechanism is powered by twelve springs rather than eight so it opens at the touch of a button with a powerful and very satisfying WHOMP!! All in all a superb quality UV proof umbrella that looks and feels as good as it sounds.
