Misen Kimono Umbrella Misen

Part of the Kimono Umbrella collection, this Japanese umbrella design is Misen “The Deep Mountain”. Crafted & upcycled from a traditional, antique Kimono that has been passed down through generations. 

Product History

Coated in a Vintage Kimono fabric, the Misen comes with a glass fibre body and wooden handle. The vivid wood grain pattern is fully utilised and accentuated by the contrast between the white and orange of the ground colour. The result is a bold and gorgeous work in the style of a Japanese painting. This kimono is a hand-dyed, uniquely designed kimono with a high sense of realism and a deep representation of mountains made in the 1960s. This Kimono has been used on the stage of a Japanese harp concert, the bright colours would look great on the performers. 

The canopy is made from 100% silk of a Kimono, meaning it’s not suitable for rain as it would damage the silk. The theme of this umbrella, however, is perfect for the sun, weighing approximately 310 grams. The origin of the Kimono can be traced as far back as the Heian Period over 1200 years ago. Straight cuts of fabric were sewn together to create a garment that fit every body shape.
